The entry into Erasmus + is competitive, but there are
obvious guidelines, which make it easy. Being a Nepali (Partner Country)
student, you can do both major directions, and there are not so significant limitations,
except the level of academic merit.
In
the case of Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM):
i.
You should have (or have recently
completed) a bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a programme related to the
programme.
ii.
If you are in your final year, you can
apply, but you have to graduate before the master commences (typically in
September).
iii.
Good grades: First-class honours or higher
(GPA 3.0+ or best in the class). Precise requirements are programme specific.
iv.
The English proficiency: IELTS 6.5 and
above, TOEFL, etc. There are programmes that will take evidence in case of
having been educated previously in English.
v.
You are allowed to apply up to 3 EMJM
programmes annually.
vi.
No previous Erasmus Mundus scholarship
permissible.
vii.
Open to every nationality- no geographical
restrictive, and Nepalis are achieving success every year.
In
the case of International Credit Mobility (ICM -KA171):
i.
Be in a Nepali institution of higher
learning (bachelor, master, or doctoral degree) with an active Erasmus+ ICM
agreement with a university in Europe.
ii.
Good academic status and the versatility
should be suited to your plan of studying.
iii.
The language requirements are based on the
host university (usually the English or the local language).
iv.
Length: 2- up to 12 months study (up to
PhD); 5-30 days of short-format blended studies (physical + online) can be done
as well.
General
Tips for Nepalese students:
Show the benefits of your studies to Nepal development
(ex: in agriculture, environment and technology, something people tend to
appreciate). There is no age limit in most instances though, motivation and
relevancy is an issue.
Check
official sites: https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/
to get EMJM catalogue and your university international office to get ICM.
With these fundamentals you are in the game as a lot
of Nepali students with good grades and ambitions are being picked!
